When a particpant is first registered they are a Stranger. After they have posted a while they become a Journeyman, a Catalyst and finally a Master.

In addition to the standard user classes, there are specialized user types. An entrepreneur is someone who has posted at least one idea. An Expert has been recognized by spigit for their specialized knowledge in the field. Moderators and Administrators manage the site and remove spam and obscene material.

Users recieve a User Reputation heart badge based on how well they are rated by other members. This is a dynamic badge that will change as the users repuation changes.

Each time a user posts an idea he gets an idea badge. The brightness of the lightbulb signifies how far along the idea is in its progress toward emergence.

Members can get badges based on the number and quality of their posts and reviews. Once their posts or reviews pass a certain number and their ratings for them are favorable enough, they will recieve a badge.

Connection badges are given based on the average value of each connections or the sheer number of connections. As Connection rating and number increases, they will go from silver to gold (for ratings) or yellow to green (for numbers).

Members receive a people-bringer badge based on how many people they invite to the site through the spigit invite button who become members. Someone who has brought 1 - 5 new members gets a silver badges; 5 or more gets a gold. The expert awards are given to the highest ranked experts in a sector.
